Great training ride last night. Used a milometer for the first time. According to Milo, we covered 72.36 km (45miles) in 3hr 34 mins, which apparently works out at an average speed of 20.3km/h (12.61 mph). Legs were feeling it by the end, and we're still to get gel saddles fitted, but overall it felt pretty comfortable, and if we can keep that sort of pace over the 9 days we should reach the finish line with time to spare.
What a beautiful evening it was weather-wise; the sun was out but there was a gentle breeze to keep us cool - a perfect summer's evening. For those interested in our training route, we've been heading from: Wootton > Cumnor > Farmoor > Eynsham > Church Hanborough > Long Hanborough > Bladon > Bunkers Hill > Enslow > Bletchingdon > Islip > Forest Hill > Wheatley > Littleworth > Horspath > Cowley > Littlemore > Sandford > Radley > Abingdon...and sometimes the reverse. Cycling around the Oxfordshire countryside and through all these picturesque villages is a complete joy, and in some ways it's a shame that our route doesn't pass through Oxon at some point. However, we can't wait to travel through some fantastic British landscapes, especially the areas we've never been before such as north Scotland, east Wales and south-west England.
So, eight days to go before we set off. A bit more training, a final scan of the inventory check-list, and we should be all set...!

Training update...
Evening all,
Just a quick one to say training is going well, the last cycle sesh we managed to cram about 40 miles in and that felt comfortable. The legs were feeling good before, during and after and I didnt stop going up any hills, which is always a good sign! Didn't consume much water at all and didn't really feel the need to stop.
This week will be tough as I have booked in a lot of O/T at work and Lee is travelling up to Scotland Friday to leave his bike and some panniers there, so we might have to train on our own this week.
There is still some bits and bobs to buy, including more socks, shorts, first aid kid, puncture repair kit, waterproofs and most notably a decent gel saddle.
The Just Giving page is up, and w have just passed the £100 mark, so a massive thanks to people who have sponsored us...it means alot. We are still hoping to get as close to the £1000 mark as possible. Keep the money rolling in!
Peace,
Jamie

The route...
Ok, so its been about two months since the last post. I really didn't intend for it to be that long, but I thought I would concentrate on finishing off my colege course and getting the credits required to get me into uni. Then I jetted off to Turkey for 10 days (although I might as well not have gone, according to the amount of "where's your tan then?!" comments I recieved since I have been back!) and here I am now, still trying to cycle off the cocktails. Anyway, back on topic, here is a list of the route we are taking, and the daily mileage.
FRI John O’Groats to Dornoch 86
SAT Dornoch to Fort William 107
SUN Fort William to Glasgow 108
MON Glasgow to Penrith 117
TUE Penrith to Blackpool 82
WED Blackpool to Montgomery 117
THU Montgomery to Bristol 115
FRI Bristol to Dunsford 90
SAT Dunsford to Land’s End 100
So, according to our schedule, that's 922 miles...

Welcome!
First of all, thanks for taking the time out to read our blog. In the coming weeks we will be adding further bits and bobs on to this site but we're new to this so it looks a bit bland at the moment.
My brother and I have set ourselves the challenging task of cycling 900 miles from John O'Groats to Land's End in 9 days this coming August. We have both completed two marathons (focusing more on raising money for our charity Parkinson's UK rather than finishing with a strong time; 5'59 in Edinburgh 2010 and 5'27 in Paris 2011) and therefore have a relative amount of phyiscal fitness and mental strength. But cycling 100 miles in a day will be tough. And then getting up and doing it all again the next day. And the day after that...
Once again we're raising money for Parkinson's UK - please donate whatever you can at www.justgiving.com/saczakbros.
To be honest, we know nothing about bikes. But we did pass the cycling proficiency course in primary school so this should be a breeze!
In the coming days we will post a few pictures of us and tell you a bit about who we are and what we do, along with the plans of us mapping out our assault on the JOGLE course.
